Reluctant day
reluctant sparrows, eager night
... reluctant me.

Sinking into forest -
tempered blades of light
plunge, bleed and mend.

Again, the pale ... the fade
again, skies fire to black -
a turn richer.

Night's gift of thick dreams -
light's reluctance
to grant rainbows.

Moment's fling with day
deep night returns
to sleep with the apples.

Twenty thousand breaths done,
just another day -
twenty thousand lives.
